The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the state chairman of the embattled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Sunday Bisi, of spewing falsehoods and misinformation to the public on the neutrality of the police concerning the resumption of the faction of the members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) who absconded from their offices for 11 months in sympathy for the state Governor Ademola Adeleke.
It would be recalled that some of the factional NULGE staff resumed at their various local government council areas across the state without molestation under the due protection of the police on Monday.
Some of the ecstatic local government returnee staff were reported to have expressed their appreciation to the reinstated APC local government executives who have been manning the affairs of the local government councils for the past 11 months for welcoming them with open arms devoid of any cataclysm from any quarters.
One would have expected the constantly lying state PDP chairman to shed his toga of rolling out misinformation, fabrications, falsehoods and subterfuge as part of his new year resolutions and make a genuine and heartfelt resolution to shun all the vices in the new year. But surprisingly, the reverse has been the case with Mr Bisi who was visibly lying that the police was aiding the APC reinstated chairmen and councillors.
There was no element of truth in the allegation of the state PDP chairman whose party has been in disarray in the state since his political idol defected to the ACCORD Party for the desperation in the need of a platform to contest the 8th August, 2026 governorship election.
The state PDP chairman should be informed and lettered enough to be abreast of the fact that the police is acting on the strength of the Court of Appeal judgement of the 10th of February, 2025 which expressly reinstated the APC council chairmen and councillors without any record of appeal against it in any superior court of records.
Sunday Bisi should be bold and truthful enough to inform the members of the public that the APC reinstated Chairmen and councillors have not filed any case to seek elongation or extension of tenure of their offices.
The only suit instituted by these reinstated chairmen and councillors is the one seeking the determination of whether the reinstated chairmen and councillors are entitled to a tenure of three years commencing from their statutory first sitting as provided by the relevant law of Osun State.
And also, whether any valid election could be conducted during the subsistence of the tenure of the office of the reinstated chairmen and councillors. That is all that the reinstated chairmen and councillors seek vide suit No. FHC/OS/CS/147/2025.
The ranting of the Osun State PDP chairman has been the resolve of the Nigeria Police Force to imbibe the rule of law by not illegally aiding the purported PDP appointed council executives who are described as 'unknown entities' in the Supreme Court judgement to dislodge the legally elected reinstated APC chairmen and councillors in Osun State from the local government councils.
With this needless state PDP chairman's diatribe against the Nigeria Police Force with reference to the seamless resumption of the local government workers which was visibly professionally handled by the statutory security service and other sister organisations, it is imperative for Sunday Bisi to tender an unreserved apology to the leadership of the forces for misleading the public about their roles.
The long and short of the development is that the Osun State PDP leadership should leave the Nigeria Police Force alone as there is no record of it being responsible for the woes of the party that has entered into relegation at all its organizational levels.
We commend the Nigeria Police Force for its qualitative professional roles during the resumption of the local government workers who went on AWO for 11 months and equally appreciate the fact that there was no record of any violent act as it was the case when one of the reinstated APC chairmen, Hon Remi Abass, the then chairman of Irewole Local Government Council Area of the state, was cruelly murdered by the PDP hoodlums in Ikire sometime ago.
