Police Recover Suspected Human Remains from Luggage on Lagos–Ibadan Expressway






Operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State have recovered a red cloth containing bones and other items suspected to be parts of a human corpse concealed among passengers’ luggage in a commercial vehicle.


The Oyo State Police Command disclosed the development on Sunday through a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, in Ibadan.


According to the statement, the vehicle was intercepted during a routine stop-and-search operation near Guru Maharaji Village on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Kazeem Ayegbo, was travelling from Lagos to Osogbo when he was apprehended by the operatives.


The statement read in part: “Operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol intercepted a commercial vehicle during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Guru Maharaji Village. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a red cloth containing bones and other items suspected to be parts of a human corpse, concealed among the luggage.


“The driver, Kazeem Ayegbo (male), travelling from Lagos to Osogbo, was apprehended. Investigation has commenced to determine the origin and intended purpose of the recovered items, with investigative efforts extended beyond Oyo State to identify and apprehend all persons connected with the incident.”


The police command assured residents that the case is being handled with utmost professionalism and diligence. It reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all offenders involved are brought to justice.


The command also urged members of the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely and credible information, stressing that sustained public support remains crucial to maintaining peace and security across Oyo State.
