Osun APC Dismisses APP Suit Against Gubernatorial Candidate as ‘Frivolous’

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described a lawsuit challenging the eligibility of its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), as “frivolous, laughable, and diversionary.”

In a press statement issued on March 27, 2026, the party faulted the legal action reportedly filed by the Action Peoples Party (APP) at the Federal High Court in Osogbo, arguing that the case lacks merit and is politically motivated.

The APC alleged that the APP was being used as a proxy to execute what it termed a “hatchet job,” claiming the move reflects desperation among political opponents ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.

According to the statement, the party expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s eligibility, insisting that its candidate has met all constitutional and statutory requirements to contest the election.

“The suit is a clear indication of panic among our opponents who are intimidated by the towering credentials and track record of our candidate,” the statement read.

The party further maintained that no amount of “sponsored attacks” or legal challenges would derail its chances at the polls, expressing optimism that it would secure victory in the forthcoming election.

The APC also criticized unnamed political actors, accusing them of attempting to distract voters and undermine its candidate through what it described as baseless allegations.

Reaffirming its position, the party called on its members and supporters to remain focused and disregard the ongoing legal challenge, insisting that the suit would not affect its campaign or electoral prospects.

The statement was signed by Kola Olabisi, the Osun State APC Director of Media and Information.

PRESS STATEMENT. (27TH MARCH, 2026).

*Your Eligibility Suit By Proxy Against Our Governorship Candidate Is Frivolous, Laughable, Diversionary*

- Osun APC Slams APP

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the eligibility suit instituted by the Action Peoples Party(APP) against the candidature of the governorship candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO at the Federal High Court, Osogbo, Osun State,as laughable and diversionary.

We were not disappointed that such a frivolous suit against the eligibility of our candidate in the 15th August, 2026 governorship election could be effected by the party which merely allowed itself to be used for an hatchet job which exposed the party and their sponsors as grossly deficient in decent approach to politics and politicking.

One does not need to be a seer in order to know that the hand is that of Esau while the voice is that of Jacob with reference to the frivolous suit.

We are proud to state unequivocally that our governorship candidate is eminently qualified to contest the election as he has fulfilled all the statutory necessary requirements for his political aspirations.

That the APP and its sponsor could go to such route to denigrate our candidate is an indication that the incumbent state governor is panicking because of the towering credentials of our governorship candidate who is a verifiably tested hand and a huge success story both in his private and public endeavours.

We want to state without mincing words that no amount of sponsored lies and subterfuge against our high-flying governorship candidate by the failed politicians and meddlesome interlopers would prevent the change of guard at the Bola Ige House in favour of our candidate through the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The filing of the frivolous suit against our governorship candidate's eligibility status through a third party is a testimony that some people out there are indeed very jittery about the 15th August, 2026 governorship election which our candidate would contest and win convincingly.

Is it AMBO who prevented a questionable governorship candidate in the state of a wobbling party to be deficient educationally which has been a source of corporate disgrace to the people of the state since his inauguration in 2022?

Our governorship candidate is not a pretender but a serious contender who possesses what it takes to successfully govern the people of this state.

It is expedient to advise the sponsors of this frivolous suit against the eligibility of our governorship candidate to go back to their drawing board as this route has irredeemably hit the rock just like their past fruitless efforts.

We make bold to state that our governorship candidate is not within the status bracket of a chief state executive who wrote a questionable General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level examination where all he could make was a woeful F9 at 65 years of age.

We are proud of our governorship candidate that he is a bonafide doctoral student of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife unlike a state governor who have made a mess of the university education by strangely stating that he bagged a first degree certificate from an American university within days

We implore the esteemed members of our party and our ever loyal supporters to discountenance the suit instituted by those who are afraid to face our governorship candidate at the polls as nothing can prevent their imminent defeat in the 15th August, 2026 governorship election.
