Residents and commuters in Temidire, Ward 5, Atakumosa East, have expressed appreciation to the local government authorities following the extension of rural road grading projects to their community.
The exercise is currently ongoing across all wards of the local government.
The ongoing intervention, spearheaded by the Executive Chairperson, Princess Folusho Adekoya, is part of efforts by the council to improve accessibility and ease transportation challenges across rural areas.
Community members who spoke during the exercise lauded the initiative, noting that the improved road conditions would enhance movement of goods and agricultural produce, while also reducing travel time for residents.
While commending the development, the residents also called for urgent attention to rural electrification in the area. They recalled that electric poles installed during the administration of former Rauf Aregbesola have remained unused, with no connection to power supply years after the project was initiated.
According to them, electrification of the community would significantly boost economic activities, improve living standards, and complement the gains of the road rehabilitation project.
The residents further expressed gratitude to the All Progressives Congress-led local government administration for the intervention, pledging their continued support for the party ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
