The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its grassroots mobilisation efforts in Ilesa East Local Government Area as preparations gather momentum for the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The party's rotational ward meeting held on Monday at Ijesa Market, Okesa, Ward 1, Ilesa, attracted a large turnout of party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders from across the local government area.
A major highlight of the gathering was the defection of Engr. Festus Olanibi, brother of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, to the APC. His defection was celebrated by party members as a significant boost to the APC's growing support base ahead of the election.
The event featured music and entertainment before the commencement of formal proceedings, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm among attendees.
Speaking at the meeting, the APC Chairman in Ilesa East Local Government, Hon. Akinola Fowowe, commended members for their impressive turnout and dedication to the party. He urged supporters to remain steadfast and conduct themselves peacefully throughout the electioneering period.
Fowowe also criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, alleging that several projects being attributed to the state government were either federal government initiatives or projects financed through federal allocations.
He called on party members to intensify mobilisation efforts at the grassroots level to ensure victory for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
Also addressing the gathering, a ward leader, Hon. Olusuyi Olurotimi, expressed confidence in the party's chances at the polls, describing the turnout and enthusiasm displayed by members as clear indicators of electoral success.
According to him, the APC remains optimistic about securing victory, adding that all wards, including Ward 9, would play strategic roles in the party's campaign activities.
Another party leader, Hon. Akintola Akinyele, stated that the campaign would focus on educating residents on what he described as the shortcomings of the current administration while encouraging members to remain united and committed to the party's objectives.
Chairman of the Campaign Committee, Hon. Olusayo Abimbola, assured party supporters of adequate security during the election period and urged eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process without fear or intimidation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, party leaders announced that the next rotational ward gathering would take place at Ward 7, Akata, Anaye, on Wednesday as part of the party's ongoing grassroots engagement strategy.
The rotational ward meetings form part of the APC's broader mobilisation campaign across Osun State as political parties intensify activities ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
