The Olumobi of Imobi-Ijesa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Jacob Adetayo Haastrup, has once again demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to the welfare of his people by spearheading a comprehensive grassroots healthcare intervention aimed at improving the health and well-being of residents across several Iwara-Ijesa, Imobi-Ijesa communities.
The health outreach programme, held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Maternity Centre, Iwara-Ijesa, brought together residents of Imobi-Ijesa, Iwara-Ijesa, Igbigbon-Ijesa, Ododo-Ijesa, and the Temidire Community for a day of health education, medical consultations, and wellness advocacy.
The initiative was facilitated by a medical team from the Christian Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (CMDA), University of Osun Teaching Hospital Chapter, led by its Chairman, Dr. Hezekiah Akinyemi, alongside other healthcare professionals from Osogbo.
A highly respected traditional ruler, accomplished public administrator, and renowned public relations practitioner, Oba Haastrup has consistently championed programmes that promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life of his subjects. Through his visionary leadership, the monarch initiated and drove the healthcare intervention to bring essential medical services closer to rural residents.
The outreach featured extensive health education sessions focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, proper nutrition, disease prevention, and the dangers associated with smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Participants were also sensitized on the importance of regular medical check-ups, early diagnosis, and preventive healthcare practices.
Speaking during the programme, Oba Haastrup emphasized the importance of healthy living and proactive healthcare. As part of efforts to strengthen community healthcare delivery, the monarch formally presented ten electronic blood pressure monitors donated by an anonymous Ijesa indigene resident in the United States of America.
The outreach also provided an opportunity for residents, particularly women, children, and the elderly, to access basic medical consultations, health screenings, and professional medical advice.
Health outreach programmes of this nature continue to play a vital role in bridging healthcare gaps in rural communities. By initiating and supporting such interventions, Oba Dr. Haastrup has further reinforced his reputation as a people-oriented monarch dedicated to community development and social welfare.
The initiative underscores the increasingly important role of traditional institutions in complementing government efforts towards achieving accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all citizens.
Residents expressed profound appreciation to the Olumobi for his unwavering commitment to improving healthcare access and promoting healthier communities throughout Imobi-Ijesa Kingdom and its neighbouring settlements.
Speaking during the event, community leaders commended the Olumobi for prioritizing the health needs of his people and for leveraging traditional leadership to address critical healthcare challenges at the grassroots level.
