Osogbo, Osun State – Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for all categories of public servants in Osun State to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The directive, announced in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, applies to workers in the state civil service, local government councils, tertiary institutions and other public establishments.
According to the circular, the work-free day is intended to encourage public servants to fulfil their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs, which are required for participation in the forthcoming governorship election and future elections.
However, personnel providing essential services, including healthcare workers and security operatives, have been advised to make internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and avoid disrupting critical public services.
Governor Adeleke also called on all eligible voters, including those in the informal sector, to take advantage of the opportunity to collect their PVCs without delay.
Describing the upcoming governorship election as crucial to the future of Osun State, the governor urged residents to exercise their democratic rights.
"Your vote is your power. Your Permanent Voter Card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box," Adeleke said, encouraging registered voters to visit designated collection centres as soon as possible.
