Osun APC Raises Alarm Over Killing of Campaign DG’s Nephew, Attack on Eniade

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the killing of Dele Ayegbo, nephew of the party’s Governorship Campaign Director-General, Wole Oke, in Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area.

Ayegbo was reportedly shot dead on Wednesday night near his home in the Idofin area of Esa-Oke.

According to the APC, suspected political thugs riding in a vehicle carried out the attack. The party also said another APC member was shot during the incident and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

In a statement signed by the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party described the killing as “callous, wicked and barbaric.”

The party called on the police to quickly investigate the incident and arrest those responsible.

The APC said the latest killing was coming just two days before the Osun governorship election and warned that political violence could scare voters away from polling units.

The party also raised concerns over what it described as repeated political killings in Ijesaland and other parts of the state. It alleged that several APC members and supporters had been killed during past election periods.

The APC urged the police and other security agencies to act quickly to prevent further violence and ensure that residents can vote without fear.

APC Alleges Attack on Eniade

The party also accused the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Egbedun, of being linked to an attack on APC Federal House of Representatives candidate, Francis Eniade, in Okuku, Odo-Otin Local Government Area.

According to the APC, Eniade’s convoy was attacked while returning from Inisa.

The party alleged that suspected thugs and security personnel attached to Egbedun were involved in the incident.

It said Eniade drove to the Okuku Divisional Police Station for safety after noticing the danger.

However, the APC alleged that the suspected attackers followed him to the police station, where his driver was wounded and his Hilux vehicle and other vehicles were damaged.

The party called for a full investigation into the alleged attack and urged the police to take action against anyone found responsible.

The APC also appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Accord Party and their supporters to avoid actions that could increase tension before the election.

It said political disagreements should be settled through peaceful campaigns and the ballot box, not violence.
