The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun Sector Command, CC ST Adebayo, has paid his maiden third-quarter working visit to the RS11.12 Ilesa Unit Command, urging personnel to uphold integrity and intensify efforts towards reducing road traffic crashes across the state.
The Sector Commander made the visit on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, where he was received by the Ilesa Unit Commander, ACC Bashir A. Jimoh, alongside principal officers and Special Marshals.
During the visit, the Unit Commander presented the operational and administrative scorecard of the command, highlighting its activities, achievements, operational commitments and challenges requiring attention and support.
Responding to the presentation, CC ST Adebayo described the scorecard as robust and commended ACC Jimoh for his tenacity, leadership and commitment to duty.
In his keynote address, the Sector Commander expressed appreciation for the warm reception and acknowledged the contributions of the Special Marshals to the Corps' road safety operations.
He, however, issued a strong warning to patrol operatives against bribery and corruption, stressing that personnel could live decent lives without compromising their integrity.
According to him, proceeds from bribery constitute “caused money,” while urging personnel not to justify corrupt practices by pointing to the misconduct of others, including those occupying higher positions.
He noted that bribery had negatively affected public perception of the FRSC and its image, charging personnel to conduct themselves as worthy representatives of the Corps while performing their duties on the roads.
CC Adebayo also expressed concern over the statistics of road traffic crashes in Osun State, noting that most crashes were avoidable and that FRSC personnel had a crucial role to play in preventing them.
He challenged every operative to continually ask whether they were doing enough on the road to prevent crashes and save lives.
The Sector Commander further recounted his personal intervention in restoring sanity during a traffic gridlock he encountered along the Ilesa–Ipetu Road, using the experience to remind personnel of the need to remain alive to their responsibilities.
He also highlighted the welfare-oriented initiatives of the Corps Marshal, while advising personnel to plan their lives responsibly in order to avoid unnecessary financial and personal pressures.
CC Adebayo responded to the challenges presented by the Unit Commander and assured the Ilesa Unit Command of his support towards addressing them.
He subsequently directed patrol operatives to pay particular attention to motor vehicles bearing dealer stickers, stressing the need for proper checks and enforcement in line with established procedures.
The visit also featured an interactive session during which officers and other personnel asked questions and received clarifications and guidance from the Sector Commander.
The State Coordinator of the Special Marshals later delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating CC Adebayo for the visit, encouragement, guidance and assurance of support.
The working visit was covered by members of the media, including Unique FM, while the Sector Commander granted an exclusive interview to the station.
During the interview, he further reaffirmed the Corps' commitment to road safety, crash prevention and improved service delivery across Osun State.
The visit ended with a renewed call for professionalism, integrity and greater commitment among FRSC personnel towards ensuring safer roads for motorists and other road users in the state.
