The Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspected criminals allegedly terrorising students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) and residents around Oke-Baale, Osogbo.
The suspects identified by the police are Abass Quadri, 26; Olanrewaju Joshua, 24; and Yusuf Taiwo, 25.
According to a statement issued on Thursday, September 17, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the suspects were arrested on September 9 following complaints from students about the alleged activities of criminals along their daily transit routes.
The police said its operatives embarked on patrol and raided a suspected criminal hideout in the area, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
The Command alleged that the suspects would stop students by force, threaten them, seize their mobile phones and compel them to transfer money into accounts controlled by the suspects.
The three suspects have since been charged to court, while police efforts are continuing to apprehend other members of the alleged gang.
The police urged residents, students and other members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or threats to the nearest police station.
The Command assured members of the public that efforts were ongoing to rid the area of criminal elements and improve security around the affected communities.
