Osun APC Unveils 168-Man Campaign Council for Tinubu, Oyebamiji Named DG

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a 168-man campaign council to lead efforts towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and secure victory for other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The list was announced in a statement signed by the state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, and made available in Osogbo on Monday.

According to Lawal, the council was formed to strengthen the party's campaign and improve its chances of winning the presidential, National Assembly and State Assembly elections.

The APC governorship candidate for the August 8 election, Bola Oyebamiji, has been named Director-General of the campaign council, while Lawal will serve as Deputy Director-General.

Oyebamiji's running mate, Benjamin Adereti, and Kehinde Olamolu were appointed Assistant Directors-General 1 and 2, respectively.

The three APC senatorial candidates and nine House of Representatives candidates in Osun are also members of the council.

Other prominent members include former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Foluke Etteh; former deputy governors Adeleke Adewoyin, Iyiola Omisore, Titi Laoye-Ponnle and Adegboyega Alabi; retired General Alani Akinrinade; Nigeria's Ambassador to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode; and the party's spokesperson, Kola Olabisi.

Lawal said the decision to form the council followed the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on October 14, 2026, by President Tinubu.

He also referred to the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council by Governor Ademola Adeleke on October 22.

The APC chairman said the new council was carefully selected to support the party's campaign and ensure victory for Tinubu and all APC candidates contesting National and State Assembly seats.

The formation of the new council comes amid disagreement within the Osun APC over the earlier campaign council inaugurated by Governor Adeleke.

Adeleke was named coordinator of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council in Osun, a development that caused reactions among APC and Accord Party members in the state.

Several party leaders attended the October 22 inauguration, including APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru; former governor, Chief Bisi Akande; and former deputy governors, Iyiola Omisore and Titi Laoye-Ponnle.

However, former governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Oyebamiji; and APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, were among the notable party leaders absent from the event.

Lawal later complained that the state party leadership was not consulted before the campaign council was formed.

At the inauguration, Adeleke made it clear that his support was only for Tinubu's re-election. He said he would not support APC candidates seeking election into the National and State Assemblies in Osun.

Meanwhile, political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections are increasing across the state as party leaders and groups begin efforts to win the support of voters.

Oyetola has called on APC members to unite and strengthen their grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.

The former governor also expressed confidence that Tinubu could secure 1.5 million votes in Osun, urging party members to work together to deliver victory for all APC candidates.
