Pastor Adeboye charges traditional rulers to govern with the fear of God, divine wisdom and justice.
The 2026 Royal Fathers Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) opened with a powerful message on divine sovereignty, as the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, reminded traditional rulers that their crowns and kingdoms remain under the supreme authority of God.
Royal Fathers from across Nigeria and beyond gathered for the opening day of the convention, which featured praise, worship and prayers for the Church, the nation and traditional institutions.
Speaking on the convention's theme, “The Sovereign God,” Pastor Adeboye delivered the opening charge titled “The God Who Does As He Pleases,” highlighting God's absolute authority over heaven, earth and all human affairs.
Drawing from Psalm 103:19 and Daniel 4:35, the cleric explained that God's sovereignty means He exercises supreme control over all creation and does whatever pleases Him, without being answerable to any human authority.
He stressed that God has the power to bless, promote, establish and dethrone, and that no earthly power can restrain His hand or question His ultimate authority.
Citing Daniel 2:21, which declares that God removes kings and sets up kings, Pastor Adeboye emphasised that every royal stool is ultimately subject to God's sovereignty.
He also highlighted God's ability to accomplish what appears impossible, recalling the biblical account of Sarah giving birth to Isaac in her old age, as evidence that divine power can reverse situations beyond human understanding.
Referencing Romans 9:15, he further explained that mercy and favour belong to God, who has the prerogative to extend them according to His sovereign will.
A MESSAGE TO ROYAL FATHERS
Addressing the traditional rulers, Pastor Adeboye reminded them that their crowns represent a sacred responsibility under the authority of the Sovereign God.
He urged the monarchs to rule with the fear of God, recognising that they would ultimately give account to the Supreme King; seek divine wisdom above human understanding, as exemplified by Solomon; and acknowledge God's authority over their kingdoms and personal lives.
He further encouraged them to honour God through their leadership, noting the importance of divine guidance in building enduring traditional institutions.
ADEBOYE PRAYS FOR PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN MONARCHS' DOMAINS
The opening session also featured prayers and prophetic declarations for the Royal Fathers and their respective kingdoms.
Pastor Adeboye prayed for peace in their domains, longevity on their thrones and divine wisdom to govern their people with justice and fairness.
He also declared that the kingdoms represented at the convention would experience prosperity rather than bloodshed during the reign of the monarchs, while extending prayers of blessings to their families and communities.
CONVENTION ENDS FIRST DAY WITH ALTAR CALL
Day One concluded with an altar call, inviting participants to surrender their lives afresh to Jesus Christ, described as the King of kings.
The opening session underscored the importance of humility, accountability and godly leadership, reminding the Royal Fathers that while they exercise authority over their respective domains, the ultimate authority belongs to God.
The 2026 RCCG Royal Fathers Convention continues with expectations of further spiritual teachings, prayers and fellowship among traditional rulers.
To God be all the glory!
