HON. AJIBOLA FAMUREWA VISITS RADIO NIGERIA GOLD FM ILESA; CALLS ON IJESA SONS AND DAUGHTERS TO RISE UP TO RESTORE THE MONUMENTAL LOSS






The fire that razed the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Gold Fm in Ilesa, Osun State destroyed three quarter of the radio station and destroyed equipments that worth hundreds of millions of Naira.

The incident which started at about 5 pm on Saturday the 3rd of February, 2018 was a monumental loss to the station that is seen as a federal presence in Ijesaland.

Monday the 12th of February, 2018, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, member House of Representatives, representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the Abuja National Assembly made a working visit to the station to ascertain the extent of damage.  The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gold FM, Isaac Haastrup and other workers of the station were on the ground to conduct him and his entourage round. He described the incident as very unfortunate.

Some of the places affected include live and recording studios, as well as engineering, programmes, marketing, accounts, and administration departments

Hon. Ajibola Famurewa promised to use his influence to bring up his finds to the notice of the House of Representatives Committee on Information and the Ministry of Information for a speedy intervention so that this radio station that has been contributing its quota to showcasing the glory of Ijesaland will not go into extinction.

In Hon. Ajibola Famurewa's words, he says "It is not what we can do in a hurry. To me as an engineer, I know we need to pull the walls down. I want to seize this opportunity to appeal to all Ijesa sons and daughters and all the lovers of Ijesa to come together to rebuild this station. It is a clarion call, so that the glory of Ijesaland will not elude us."

Before leaving the station Hon. Ajibola Famurewa donated two (2) sets of computer and promised a cash donation to assist the speedy completion of a makeshift temporary studio.
