Osun poll: vote don’t fight, 2Face cautions electorates

Monday August 27, 2018, some twenty-five days to the Osun Governorship Election,
Mr. Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2face or 2baba, and his team on the "Vote Not Fight, Election No Be War" were at the Gboyega Oyetola Campaign Office at Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo to promote peaceful governorship election as Osun voters are preparing for the forthcoming September 22nd election.

The "VOTE NOT FIGHT, Election No Be War" campaign is an initiative championed by the music star, 2face Idibia himself and targeted primarily at the youth demographic which incidentally constitutes by far the largest voting population in the country and also the main culprits in election violence.

In attendance were the Osun APC governorship candidate Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, his running mate, Mr Benedict Gboyega Alabi, the Director General of Gboyega Oyetola Campaign Organisation, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, one time Osun Deputy Governor, Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin, Osun commissioner for Education Mr. Kola Omotunde-Young, Mr.Innocent Ujah Idibia Tuface, Hubro Macochion the Senior Resident Director of the National Democratic Institute, Mr. Kayode Iyala and a cross section of the press.

The reception which took place at the Confrence Room of the Ileri-Oluwa Campaign Organization was moderated by Alhaji Jamiu Olawumi who reiterated that the philosophy of the governorship candidate keys into the initiative of 2baba because at the on set of the project, Gboyega  Oyeyola has warned everyone around him that votes doesn't amount to fight.

Innocent Idibia stressed the need for everyone to work together to prevent needless loss of lives before, during and after the election. In his words "Good afternoon your Excellency, please permit me as I say that with confidence. I am very happy and honoured to be here today because we have heard it before we came here that Gboyega Oyetola is someone that embraces peace, that always does things the right way. That is basically what we need. The long and short of what I am going to say now is to wish you all the best and I wish Osun state all the best as I pray that your various voters will listen to you and hear you when you tell them that " Vote and don't fight"

The Osun APC governorship candidate in his response showed his excitement to host the Vote not Fight team "I must thank the National Democracy Institute for taking it desirable to embark on this campaign. He said. That he would not have been interested in politics if everything about it is violence. He traced his sojourn in the private sector that spanned over thirty years highlighting what it takes to run a very successful organization. " I don't see why there should be violence in election process, if you believe that you're very popular, go to the field and allow the people to show their choice and this is exactly what we did during the governorship primary, we went round and convinced the members of our party that we are the best. We showcased our programs and there was no incidence of violence at all throughout the campaigns.

" We believe our government is popular. Our governor has done very well and I believe that I am the candidate to beat anywhere any day. It is only people that are not sure of winning that will opt for violence. I want to assure you that my team will maintain peace before during and after the election.

"I hope you carry the message to all the other parties and let them realize that winning an election is not a do or die affair. Particularly you need to appeal to the youth because they are vulnerable. Let them appreciate the fact that nobody should use them for thuggery."

The ceremony also witnessed presentation of Vote Not Fight T-shirts souvenir and signing of the no violence card by the APC candidate.
