Elerinmo Pleads Unflinching Support for Iwude-Ijesa Festival; Advocates Social Amplification Strategy

The Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesa, Oba (Dr.) Michael Odunayo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II has appealed to the members of the Iwude-Ijesa Planning Committe to use the advantages of the social media to inform Ijesa sons and daughters of the upcoming 2019 Iwude-Ijesa festival that comes up on Saturday 21st December, 2019.

He dropped the hint when the members of the Iwude-Ijesa Planning Committe led by Chief Afolabi Igbaroola paid him a courtesy visit in his palace.  "Social amplification strategy can help to build awareness before, during, and after the event“. The learned and widely travelled Oba said as he lamented that he has little or no information about the Iwude-Ijesa festival while blaming the lack of information on its past organizers.

"Social media is critical to the festival’s success. If you don’t already have accounts for the festival on the most popular social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram please do so". He said.

He also, advised the committee to publish helpful information about the rebranded festival.

"I have never been to Iwude-Ijesa festival because nobody had invited or informed me about it". He said as he commended the initiative of the planning committee to bring the information and invitation to his doorstep. He also advised the committee to extend the invitation to all Obas of Ijesaland.

"Ijesaland needs to develop and we need to earnest all our resources. Ijesaland should not be treated as a burial ground where our sons and daughters that made marks outside are only brought home to be buried and Iwude-Ijesa festival day should be likened to a pilgrimage that every year our people should come home to mix, mingle and merry." He concluded.

Presenting the programme of the 2019 edition and the brochures of the past events to Oba Arowotawaya II, the vice president of the committee, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola explained that the position of Ijesa Obas coupled with the exposition of Ijesa tradition and culture will be given utmost importance particularly at the time when Owa Obokun of Ijesaland Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR LLD, will on the Iwude celebration,  come out of his Aafin Adimula Palace moves in grandeur across a section of the community with his people and returns to the festival arena in the evening.
