ILESA WATER PROJECT: Owoeye Seeks Cooperation of Ijesa Youth to Allow Speedy Completion of Pipe Installation

State of Osun House of Assembly speaker Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye has sought for the continued cooperation of the sons and daughters of Ilesa towards achieving the immediate completion of the ongoing water project.

Owoeye made the appeal while meeting with the community leaders of Ikoti at Onikoti's Quarters on Friday, 4th of October, 2019.

The lawmaker narrated series of man made challenges facing the contractors handling the water project as a result of hoodlums who were paraded themselves as "Omo Onile" demanding for money before pipes could be laid.

The speaker, expressed dismay and disappointment towards the disheartening development noting that it is pertinent and crucial for dwellers of Ilesa to portray maximum cooperation and support in making sure the project is completed in no distance time.

A community leader. Mr. Tunde Bibilari  expressed dissatisfaction with the situation of Ikoti-Omi Oko-Isokun road which became worse as a result of the pipe laying activities expressing the fear of the community that the contractor might not respect the memorandum of agreement that stipulates that damaged roads in the cause of the installation of pipes must be repaired.

The Onikoti of Ikoti, Chief Olaniyi Fatoye assured honourable Timothy Owoeye that such incident won't repeat itself as he presented the demands of his community that include an electric transformer and assistance at building a community hall.

Responding, the Speaker said the demands of the community are part of the developmental plans of the government as he promised to intensify efforts on the construction of Ikoti P-Line road while appealing to the community leaders to appease the youth so that the contractor will return to site.

Also present at the meeting were Hon. Nurudeen Giwa, Hon. Folarin Fafowora, Hon. Ogunmokun among others.
