Read the Biography of Mama Mopelola Ayeni Mother of Hon. L. B. Ayeni






Madam Florence Mopelola Ayeni was born in 1933 into the family of Apata  at Igbo Olotin in the present day Atakunmosa West Council Area of the State of Osun.

Her father was late Pa Apata while her mother was Mama Egbeyemi popularly known as Iya Ataku, a successful Osomalo cloth dealer.

She was the fourth child of the seven children of her parent.

She started her Primary Education at Oke Oja Primary School, Osu in 1940. Afterwards she later stopped schooling around 1944 to assist her mother at hawking clothes around villages in Atakunmosa and beyond. She got to learn the trade from her mother; and having mastered it, she started her own Osomalo business which she practiced for many years before she got married.

Mama's remarkable sojourn on earth was full of God's grace and tremendous testimonies as she faced the challenges of life squarely, particularly after the sudden death of her husband. Her passion to achieve success regardless of difficult situation of life spurred her to venture into petty trading to make ends meet and cater for her children. She established a food vendor business in Ilesa. The food vendor business blossomed; she moved from Ikoti to Ita-ofa and finally to Ikoyi junction for a span of 20 years with the name "Iya Ibeji Food Canteen".



In the early part of year 2000 she relocated to her house in Osu, she voluntarily retired from active business activities. Due to her passionate love and contributions to the development  and growth of Osu kingdom and her selfless service to humanity, she was honoured with a traditional Chieftaincy title; The Yeye Sapaye of Osu kingdom.

Mama Florence was a devout Christian, a disciplinarian to the core and generous woman who has imparted positively into the lives of many that came in contact with her.

Though, she was born into the Anglican church, while she was staying in Ilesa, she fellowshipped at The Apostolic Church, Ikoyi and later became an active and prominent member of The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Muroko road, Ilesa and when she relocated to Osu, she started worshipping at the Celestial Church of Christ, Osu. Mama was a Mother Celestial and the "Iya Eso" Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Muroko road, Ilesa till her death.



The present Federal lawmaker representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the lower chamber of the House of Representatives also a foremost philanthropist in the State of Osun is one of the children that mama was blessed with.

Mama Ayeni breathed her last in the early hours of Monday 2nd September, 2019 after spending awesome hours of praise and worship before her creator in the house of God.
