CODIV-19 PHOTOS & NEWS: Owoeye's distribution of largesse to His People of Ilesa East State Constituency to Cushion the Effect of the Stay-At-Home Order

Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye the Speaker of the State of Osun House of Assembly, today, Sunday 5th April, 2020 distributed relief materials worth millions of Naira to each of the more than 94 communities of Ilesa East Local Government and Ilesa North East LCDA  of the state.

Owoeye distributed bags of rice, beans and Semolina to all Ilesa East communities irrespective of religious or political affiliations.

The Speaker said the move is in a bid to help the needy cushion the effect of the lockdown and to sensitize them on the dangers posed by COVID-19.

Speaking to the press, he urged the people of the State of Osun to adhere strictly to the safety measures given by the government and relevant agencies in a bid to combat the deadly coronavirus.

The relief materials were taken to the doorsteps of the communities to respect the social distancing recommendation.

Owoeye while presenting the items lauded Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola for his proactiveness as he urged the people to cooperate with the government by abiding by all the measures taken to curtail the spread of the disease.

"This is a trying period for the entire world as far this palliatives are are concerned, it is not based on political parties because I'm a representative of the people. I  believe that if we can assist our local people with these food items, this will make them to comply with the directives of the government as most of the people have been complaining as many depend on daily earnings to make their ends meet.

"What is worth doing at all is worth doing well, the only way we can militate against the spread of of Codiv-19 is total lockdown. For us to curb the spread everybody has to stay at home.

"We must commend the proactiveness of the State of Osun government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola that has helped the State to reduce and control the spread of the virus in the State.

"I believe that the steps taken by the government under Governor Gboyega Oyetola I'd in right direction"
