Thursday, 27th August 2020 was a remarkable day for the people of Oke Iyanu (Ilesa East LG), Oke Aanu (Ilesa West Central LCDA) and Osun College of Education Campus area of Atakumosa West LG as the communities that had been in perpetual blackout for over sixteen months got a lasting relief.
The thirty-five years old transformer serving the communities totally broke down at about March 2019, hence, the residents decided to buy a new one by tasking all landlords and landladies to make financial contribution.
When the transformer was purchased the communities were faced with the burden of installation as the cost of purchasing the necessary accessories was out of their reach.
The Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye gave the project a strong backing by assisting the electrification project with a sum above N2 million for the purchase of the accessories and the installation.
Other prominient Ijesa sons that contributed to the success of the project included, Hon. L. B. Ayeni, MoR Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Hon. Folarin Fafowora, Chairman, Ilesa West Central LCDA, Hon. Francis Famurewan Chairman, Atakumosa West LG inter alia.
Speaking at the occasion of the launching of the transformer, the Osun Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye highlighted that government alone cannot solve all problems, hence there is need for collaboration as every member of the community has a role to play. He promised to continue to assist the communities to cushion the effect of the financial burden occasioned by the purchase of the transformer as he asked the communities exco members to supply him with the list of landlords and landladies that contributed with their bank account details.
One will recall that Ilesa East Local Goverment administration under Hon. Akeem adesoji Olowoopejobori recently embarked on extensive grading of all the roads of Oke Iyanu community of Ward 11.

Michael adeyinka Adetoyi, Hon. Babatunde Desmond Ojo, Hon. Taofeek Badamasi, Hon. Adekunle Oyekunle, Hon. Adebayo Uzamot and Hon. Abefe Adegbile.
Others are; Hon. Idowu Falade, Hon. Lanre Balogun and Hon. Mrs. jumoke Lasebikan.
