The Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Eduction Board Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has called on teachers across the state of Osun to champion the course of the teaching of Science subjects in schools for the nurturing of young Scientists that will benefit the state and the country at large.
Hon. Famurewa gave the advice while reading his address at a 7-day training workshop on "Strengthening Mathematics and Science Education" (SMASE).
The training workshop which is currently going on in Osogbo ,the state capital was organized by Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with Osun State Universal Basic Education Board.
About nine hundred Public Primary School Science Teachers across the three Senatorial Districts of the State of Osun are participating.
Holding at the Fakunle Comprehensive High School Hall in Osogbo , the state capital ,the occasion afforded the SUBEB Boss the opportunity to implore all public primary school Science teachers in the state to always carry out their duties diligently and conscientiously .
He added that the State Government of osun under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is ever determined to continue to place the states' education sector on a sound and solid footing.
The Subeb boss in Osun emphasised that the 7-day training program will go a long way in giving the participants all modern professional skills that will in no small measure augment their professional competence and integrity while teaching their pupils at the basic level .
"I have no doubt that the training will provide opportunity for all the participants to be more knowledgeable with new methods of teaching science subjects in all our schools which will reflect eventually on the development of education sector in the state." Concluded Famurewa.
Earlier In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary, Osun SUBEB, Mr Adeoye Bakare appreciated both the Federal and State Governments of Osun for promoting quality education for all Nigerian School children as well as teachers.
He lauded the ingenuity of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on his support for all the various training workshops aimed at enhancing teaching profession in the state.
The Osun Subeb Executive Secretary assured that the knowledge gained during the training will serve as a tool for building competent Science and mathematics teachers .
In his remarks, the team leader of the resource persons at the ongoing training workshop, Mr Francis Olubanke commended the present administration in the state of OSUN under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for its commitment to the development of education sector.
On behalf of his colleagues he pledged readiness to impart useful science knowledge that will be beneficial to the participants .
The training workshop continues today where resource persons in the field of science and mathematics are expected to deliver various papers on the effective teaching of science and mathematics to Osun public school teachers
