The Osun Deputy Governor, Mr. Benedict Alabi, the Secretlay to Osun State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji and the Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye on Friday attended the funeral and thanksgiving service of the late Joshua Olasupo Obisesan at Ilesa, Osun State.
The deceased, father of Olasunkani Obisesan, the Chief of Staff to the Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, Speaker of the State of Osun House of Assembly passed away on 25th January, 2022. He was 80.
The funeral service held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Isona Ilesa was well attended by family members, All Progressives Congress (APC) members.
Chief Joshua Olasupo Obisesan, former Chief Executive officer of Obisco construction company was born on 16th of April,1942 into the family of late Pa David Obisesan of Asolo compound in Ilesha, Osun state.
Fondly called Obisco and Ironu kopapo, late Chief Supo Obisesan was in 1999 the Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) party Chairman in Ilesa East and until his death an active member and one of the Ijesaland leaders the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His activities and services to the Anglican diocese earned him the title of Otun Balogun of St. Peter's Anglican Church Isona Ilesa where he was the patron of the church Choir and boys' brigade. He was also the patron of guild of steward and of course, he was in charge of mentoring youth.
Earlier in his sermon, the new Diocesan Bishop of the diocese of Ilesa, Church of Nigeria, the Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo Asaju said that `death is a debt’ which everybody must pay as he urged Christians to live their lives in a manner that would earn them heaven when they die.
In his message, the Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye said that the gathering was to celebrate not just the passing of the deceased who he referred to as his father. He hailed the former AD Ilesa East Party Chairman as humane and simple man who played politics with firmness and open mind.
Addressing the congregation the Osun State Deputy Governor Mr Benedict Alabi remarked that he never knew the deceased in person but decided to honor his son, Mr. Olasunkani Obisesan the CoS to the Speaker, who must have taken cues from his father as described the CoS as dedicated and truthful. "To be a fulfilled parent, you should teach values to your children, encourage truthfulness in your child by being a truthful person yourself." He said.
The reception party held at the Mega Event Centre was well attended by prominent politicians and members staff of the Osun House of Assembly among whom were Leader Kunle Odeyemi, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, Hon. Babatunde Ayeni, Hon. Folorunso Bamisayemi, Hon. Wale Adedoyin, Hon. Tajudeen Lawal among others.
