2022 Iwude Ijesa Festival: Planning committee engages Ijesaland Clubs and Societies as 2022 edition commences officially






The activities marking the year 2022 edition of Annual Iwude Ijesa Festival has commenced on Wednesday 26th October, 2022 with the meeting with clubs and societies.






The meeting held on Wednesday at the Iwude Ijesa Permanent Secretariat, Okemese, Adimula Palace Square, was preceded by an inspection of the Permanent Secretariat, a project being undertaken by the planning committee as the planning committee's secretary took the participants round the project that has reached 80% completion level.




The meeting was presided over by Mr. Wale Idowu who is the Chairman of the Events and Venue Subcommittee.




The purpose of the meeting was to bring group of individuals together to guide and provide feedback to the scheduled plans of the 2022 edition of the annual festival.


Present at the meeting were a wide range of Ijesa sons and daughters who represented various interest groups, clubs, societies and organizations across Ijesaland. 






The Committee received updates on the last edition as participants provided input from the perspective of the community and/or their group. They also gave feedback on specific needs, desires, and concerns of their clubs, societies, groups and organization.




Also at the meeting, Dr. Olu. Olujide seized the opportunity to make the participants stay up-to-date on the activities of the Ijesa Development Council (IDC) on bringing development to Ijesaland.






Some of the Clubs/Societies/Organization that had representatives at the meeting included the Ijesa Progressive Council, Ipole Progressive Union, Egbe Omo Ijesa, Ile-ife wing, Owena Ijesa Progressive Uníon, Ogere Ekun Social Club, Obalonile Solidarity Group, Egbe Atunluse Ile Ijesa, Ilare Development Association, Ijesa Parapo Lori Afefe, Ijesa Youth Forum and Ogedengbe Family.


Others are, Theatre Practitioners, Hoteliers Association of Ijesaland, Ijesa Sports Club, Torch Bearers Club, Nigeria Legions, Ijesa Football Association and the Performing Musicians Employers' Association of Nigeria (PMAN).




The grande finale of the 2022 edition of the traditional Iwude Ijesa festival that will feature the once-in-a-year statutory outing with cultural procession of HIM Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II CFR, LLD, Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, will hold on Saturday 24th December at the Obokungbusi Civic Centre, Ilesa.
