Final preparations are being made for the 2022 edition of the annual Iwude Ijesa festival as the planning committee members on Friday met with the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye at his Ilesa residence and later held the 9th Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee meeting at the Iwude Ijesa Permanent Secretariat, Okemese, Adimula Palace Square, Ilesa, where senior local government personnel represented the local governments of Ijesaland at the meeting.
Speaking with the planning committee members led by Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, Osun Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye said it’s been God all the way for giving another opportunity to witness this year's edition of the annual festival as he emphasized on the planning of the festival by both the community and the local authority.
Remarkably present at the 9th Planning Committee's meeting where subcommittees presented their reports were Mrs Sola Akinsola - Coordinating Director, Ministry of culture and Tourism, Mr Sunday Oladipo - Tourism Board, Mrs Kedhinde AKINYEMI - Ministry of Culture, Mr. Segun Omofoyewa- Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation NTDC.
The senior local government personnel at the meeting Prince Ayeni M. A - of Oriade LG,Mrs Oke L.B. - Ilesa North East, Mr Timothy Oginni - Ilesa East Local Government, Mr Adebiyi S.A. - Atakunmosa East Central , Iwara and Mr Obembe Olaniyi - Oriade South LCDA, Ipetu-Ijesa.
The ancient town of Ilesa will go agog on Saturday 24th of December, 2022 when Ijesa people, their friends and well wishers will gather for the grand finale of the celebration.
