As the Osun governorship election petition tribunal sets to deliver its judgement today in Osogbo, state capital, there are indications that the whirlwind of harassment, intimidation and torture has been let loose by the governing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with a view to eliminating perceived political opposition elements.
In Osun East senatorial district of the state, Hon Israel Ajibola Famurewa has had his Ilesa residence and privacy infiltrated by the Police for a search and asked to report for questioning at the Force Criminal Investigation & Intelligence Department, FCIID, Alagbon- Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Famurewa, the Ife-Ijesaland All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Senate in the February general elections was at FCIID and volunteered vitally apposite hints that absolved him of the allegation by the Fadahunsis, and made the police reports potently robust for careful trial of alleged criminality. Famurewa who said, he has nothing to be witch-hunted, also declared that he had no dealings with one Afolabi Fadahunsi, reportedly a serial guest criminal at FCIID, Alagbon. He said, "Senator Fadahunsi will soon be interlocked in the web from which he cannot get out of the smear." That sounds prophetic, not political. And the former is stronger.
Sources disclosed that one Afolabi Fadahunsi, a.k.a Carlos, said to be a younger brother to Senator Fadahunsi was arrested by FCIID and detained for two weeks in connection with the possession and control of guns in breach of Firearm Act.
Further investigation into the development shows that the accused frantically made failed attempt to become the acuser under the cover of his handler-brother- senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, currently sitting. The accused had endeavoured to embroil Famurewa, the former Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on trump up in order to have his integrity violated, campaign stride, speed decelerated and prospects of winning the election dampened.
While Fadahunsi, the utterly heinous, walks a free man to shield involvement.
Intelligence reports hinted that the decision to torment Famurewa was taken by Senator Fadahunsi who has continually felt humiliated with what might be the outcome of the February general elections into the National Assembly. Fadahunsi has been inundated with prolonged sleepless nights in the recent times over threats posed by the Famurewa campaigns across the Ife/Ijesa electoral axis of the state, gaining promises of landslide victory over Fadahunsi.
The Owa of Ijesaland, Oba, Dr, Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, on phone, generally tongue lashed politicians and election candidates who relish inciting crisis in Ijesaland. Curses were rained without bounds on anyone who chooses to cause trouble and disrupt peace in any part of Ijesaland.
The paramount ruler customarily appealed to politicians across political parties to tell the Ijesa people what development programmes they intended to execute if they eventually get voted instead of heightening tension in the land.
A former APC member, now a chieftain of PDP who craved anonymity, confirmed information about the planned massive elimination of opposition candidates in the state.
Recall that recently, there were assassination attempts on Engr Remi Omowiye, former Commissioner in the state and Dr Amidu Tadase, the APC senatorial candidate for Osun West.
Meanwhile, the Osun politicians of the APC extraction have described the intimidation visited on Famurewa as bestial, vicious, fierce, despotic and cruel. They opined, Famurewa will rise above it all.

Hon. Ajibola Israel FAMUREWA was on Wednesday at the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, FCIID, Alagbon-Close, Ikoyi, Lagos to honor an invitation for interviews and interrogations over an allegation by a suspected notorious Thuggery Kingpin. Mr. Afolabi Fadahunsi, otherwise called Carlos who was arrested by FCIID, Alagbon and detained two weeks ago over some criminal acts of having firearms in his possession and under his control in contravention of the Firearms Act.
An investigation expert with the FCIID, Alagbon ( name withheld) stated that, Hon. Ajibola FAMUREWA was one of the names mentioned by the suspect during their interrogations, which was why he was invited to possibly clear and exonerate himself.
According to the officer who was also at Hon. Famurewa's resident in Ilesa for a search, such invitations are carried out in order to ensure diligent prosecutions of suspected criminals. Though, he did not state wether or not an unlawful firearm was found in Famurewa's resident, he however confirmed that the amiable and distinguished two terms member of the House of Representatives has given them very useful clues and factual information that will add strength to their reports.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Akinyele Akintola has dismissed the News that the Senatorial Candidate of APC was whisked away by the police. Mr. Akinyele Akintola said he was in Hon. Ajibola FAMUREWA'S resident when a letter inviting to the FCIID, Alagbon was delivered and duly received. He stated further that as requested by the police, the former Chairman of SUBEB in Osun State reported at Alagbon in company of his team of lawyers and some chieftains of the APC, lead by the party's Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Francis Famurewa and a former Commissioner in the state, Hon. Segun Olanibi.
Mr. Akintola further described Famurewa's invitation by the police as normal procedure, stating that, Mr. Afolabi Fadahunsi is a well known notorious Thug who recently became a member of the People's Democratic Party, PDP in the state. He said, Carlos is not a new face in Alagbon being a serial criminal suspect and that Fadahunsi's decision to implicate Hon. Ajibola FAMUREWA is not unconnected with the stealthy and diabolical moves by the candidate of PDP, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi.
He's therefore confident that "Senator Fadahunsi will soon be caught in the web like a spider, while Famurewa will triumph at the end of the day".

Top Notchers and party faithfuls lead by the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Adigun Owoeye were at the State CID on Thursday on solidarity with Hon. Ajibola Israel FAMUREWA. Famurewa, the Senatorial Candidate of APC, Osun East is currently helping the police to unravel the personalities sponsoring a notorious Thuggery Kingpin, Afolabi Fadahunsi who has been hired by PDP to implicate and blackmail some members of All Progressives Congress, APC in Ijesaland. Hon. Famurewa was accompanied to Ilesa via Osogbo to inspect his house as part of Police investigation procedures in a trump-up allegation by the notorious criminal who was arrested a fortnight for being in possession of sophisticated firearms and dangerous weapons.
The APC chieftains expressed their displeasures at the unabated rate of criminal activities in the state since the inception of the new government in the state. One of the leaders stated that with the ugly trend of criminal activities, the state will soon be under a seige that might call for a state of emergency if the situation is not arrested with practical Police precision and diligence.
He made reference to the Ikire attack, and the attempt to kill the Senatorial Candidate of APC, Osun West, Prof. Tadese; the beheading of an innocent citizen in the area; the recorded statement by PDP candidate, Mr. Lere Oyewunmi ordering his supporters to unleash terror on APC members; the recorded statement by PDP House of Representatives Candidate, Hon. Sanya Omirin boasting openly that he will bomb and kill the opposition members if need be to win the election; the series of murder cases in Ede, Osogbo, Atakumosa East, Ilesa West and other areas in the state. The leader also made mention of the unabated destruction of APC Billboards and posters, especially by supporters of Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi in Ijesaland.
He said, the Police would have noticed that in the last two months, criminal activities such as robbery, murder cases, Thuggery, and other conducts likely to cause a break down of law and order have been on the increase and with reckless impunity.
However, the APC leaders were happy to receive Hon. Ajibola FAMUREWA who was obviously in a high spirit and undisturbed by the attempt to blackmail him. According to him, he has not met with the suspect in the past three years or thereabout. He described himself as a well known Christian and peace loving gentleman who hardly can hurt a fly.
