INEC Clears Air on Issuance of certificate of return for Oyetola.

Due to the fact that the current governor of Osun State, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, will continue to serve as the state’s substantive governor until the two gladiators have exhausted all legal options, the victory of the former governor Gboyega Oyetola over Chief Adegboyega Oyetola at the Election Tribunal last week won’t have any impact on how the state is run.

We will wait to issue any additional Certificates of Return to the eventual Supreme Court victor until both parties have exhausted all legal remedies, despite INEC’s categorical declaration that it is not in a rush to either withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Adeleke or issue the same to Oyetola.

Adeleke has 21 days to appeal the decision of the Osun State Election Tribunal, according to Barrister Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman of Voter Education for INEC, who was speaking on Tuesday’s episode of Sunrise Daily on Channels Television.

Okoye claims that if Adeleke decides not to challenge the court decision, INEC will hold off on taking any action until the end of the 21-day window in compliance with the arrangements of the appointment demonstration.

As a law-abiding body, INEC will follow the rules, he vowed. This indicates that the Commission will wait until all options have been explored by both parties before taking any further action. Therefore, we shall wait the initial 21 days; if no lawsuit is filed.
