Former Osun state governor, and now minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola on Easter Monday paid a surprise visit to the Sawe of Ilesa, Chief Akinwande Akinola, Chairman, Board of Trustees, University of Ilesa Endowment Fund and Leader of Ijesa Elders Forum at his Fadahunsi Avenue residence, Ilesa, Osun State.
Receiving the Minister, Chief Akinwande Akinola expressed his appreciation to him for finding time to visit Ilesa again while referring to the significance of 2022 presence of the Minister, then as Osun state governor in Ilesa that gave birth to the University of Ilesa.
Chief Akinwande Akinola who was at home with Engr. Yemi Oguntominiyi, seized the occasion to convey the appreciation of Ijesa people to the Minister as he wish him success in his new office and on his future political ambition.
Oyetola said one of his most cherished achievement while in office was the creation of University of Ilesa and was why he took it upon himself to personally collect the certificate of approval from the National University Commission (NUC). He praised the Owa of Ijesaland the entire Ijesa people for their commitment towards the development of their heritage. He said he decided to pay the courtesy visit as it was exactly two years that he proclaimed the creation of University of Ilesa at the launching of Ilesa Geriatric Center.
He also remarked that Ilesa is his second home and expressed appreciation for the support he enjoyed from Ijesa people while he was the governor of the state.
The Minister was accompanied by Elder Kunle Odeyemi, Ijesaland APC leader, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, Executive Director Project Implementation Federal Ministry of Housing, Dr. Charles Diji Akinola, former Chief of Staff to Oyetola, Oluomo Sunday Akere, Prince Adeleke BANIK amongst others.
