The incident that led to the death of Omolojuoba of Ikireland, Aderemi Muideen Abass(Remi) and other persons is an unfortunate one. I would not, in a lifetime, have imagined such calamity to strike within the borders of our beloved and peaceful Ikire.
Remi was a compatriot, a friend and a great individual who today became the victim of the most vicious, heinous and callous crime ever perpetrated against the people of my hometown, IKIRE by power-drunk individuals and their henchmen. He has today become a MARTYR of unplanned AUDACITY. May his soul and those of the other victims rest in peace. Amen
I speak because I cannot continue to remain silent in the face of this gruesome murder. Our hearts are heavy and our eyes, cloudy. The question on the lips of our supporters and every well-meaning individual is if a warrior could be killed at the battlefield, what then is left for the army? But I say to you: be BRAVE!
I promise you, we shall not put you to shame. We shall bring the perpetrators to justice. Our kinsman was a warrior and his death remains a debt. His blood shall avenge on the souls of these wicked, power drunk individuals. I promise you, we shall act— within the ambit of justice.
We shall act. Not with guns and grenades; not with cutlasses and axes; but we shall act to duly seek justice from the unbiased claws of the law.
To my fellow APC patriots, I say do not be downcast. But we must learn from this event. We must learn not the philosophy that produced these wicked actors but from the deep love that made Remi a valiant and beloved compatriot.
Death is democratic, and not aristocratic. It takes the killer and the healer; it takes the poacher and the preacher . We shall all die!
I hope and pray that God lifts us up immediately from this fatigue of despair to the buoyancy of hope, and transform our embittered hearts into a pool of peace.
Omolojuoba Aderemi Muideen Abass and other deceased patirots shall be immortalised; and they shall live forever in our hearts. We shall continue to remember them all.
Once more; my sincere condolences to the immediate families of all the deceased.
Adieu, Remi
