Sequel to the Monday's Appeal Court judgement which reinstated the constitutionally elected local government council chairmen and councillors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) extraction unjustifiably sacked by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke over two years ago, the opposition party in Osun State has faulted the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Right Honourable Adewale Egbedun, who is wrongly accusing the immediate-past Governor Gboyega Oyetola now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, of using his position to cause crisis in the state.
It would be recalled that the people of the state intuitively went into jubilation across the nooks and crannies of the state immediately the news of the Court of Appeal judgment filtered in yesterday.
It was uncharitable and puerile that such a statement on the Court of Appeal judgment could ooze out from the mouth of the Speaker which is a confirmation of putting a square peg in a round hole.
We are not surprised that Egbedun who is metaphorically putting on a pair of an oversized shoes through his unmerited appointment could stoop so low to blame former Governor Oyetola for the woes of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP-led administration in the state.
The same speaker was comfortable when the executive arm of the government under Governor Ademola Adeleke was busy violating all sets of laws.
The APC which was the recipient of all these illegalities of the government was not violent and or lawless but chose the path of the law and civilized means of seeking redress by approaching the court.
The APC lost at times and won at times and the last victory based on the well considered verdict of the Appeal Court seems to have gone beyond simple understanding of the Speaker thus he resulted to insulting the Honourable Minister for being very peaceful and law-abiding.
The unsubstantiated allegation of the Speaker who could only be made the number three citizen in the state by a minimalistic government of the type of his principal further accentuated the fact that he is not a democrat by all standards and an unmerited of such an exalted political office.
Mr Egbedun should address his mind to the fact that the APC at all levels is a party which is founded on the principles of the rules of law which could not, for any reason, veer of from regardless of provocation from any quarters.
It is not true that Alhaji Oyetola has been using his ministerial appointment or relationship in any manner with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to destabilize the state as such description of the former governor who is an embodiment of gentility is nothing but a ploy to call a dog a bad name in order to hang it.
The accusation of Egbedun does not add up as it is on record that Oyetola did not stay a day longer in the office when the Supreme Court pronounced Senator Adeleke the winner of the last governorship election in the state.
It is also no where in the record of the state that Alhaji Oyetola resulted to self help when the duly elected chairmen and councillors of the APC extraction were unjustifiably sacked by Governor Adeleke against the provision of the extant law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Why is it that it is only when the Osun PDP is victorious in any matter that it will occur to its leadership that justice has been done and when it goes against them, ranting would become their sing-song?
It is absurd for the satellite Speaker to be accusing a member of the executive at the Federal level of having anything to do with the judiciary as such allegation is against the statutory divisions of power among the executive, the legislature and the judiciary.
We are, through this rejoinder, appealing to the leadership of the Osun State chapter of the PDP which umbrella has torn into irredeemable shreds with the landmark judgement to put its house in order and be a doer of the rule of law, fairness and justice by holistically observing every letter of the Court of Appeal judgement and other dictates of the laws.
With the Court of Appeal judgement, we congratulate the peace-loving and painstaking members and supporters of our party and enjoin them to continue to embrace peace while the other arms of the government should continue to do their constitutional work without minding whose ox is gored as long as there is perpetual peace in Osun State.
