The cost of a man becoming anything in life is captured in the words of a renowned dramatist Ola Rotimi who said “the tragedy of a man begins from birth”.
The dramatist is right because the determinants of man’s success and failure actually commence from birth. Some died at but Yinka Fasuyi survived. Those who survived birth are still not totally free from other factors that can aid, ambush or hinder the realization of destinies.
Among other factors laying waiting to ambush or promote man’s destiny include parental tutelage and parental errors, negative and positive impacts of family members who love or hate your parents and consequently make your destiny a collateral target. Have we forgotten bad friends or misleading advice from peers? Yinka Fasuyi escaped it all, nature seemed to be interested in your attainment.
What about the hostile policies of the time of birth and growing up? If anyone trivializes the risk. I will remind the person about these who were forced into army during the civil war. There and then their destinies were cut short. The environment you where you were born could ruin it all for a man. For a man to escape all these and still able to realize his destiny is beyond human efforts but divine supervision and mercy, especially for child that always seek for what can kill out of naive adventure. God is on your side Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi you still escaped where others were not as corky.
It is this God’s divine supervision and mercy that Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi benefitted from God, added to his doggedness and tenacity which made him resilient among others to attain this height today. My emphasis on achievement and attainment is far from the cash at hand or bank, not referring to building erected. My focus is based on the philosophy in the soul of the man Yinka Fasuyi who is in possession. So also, I cherish the impacts of man Yinka Fasuyi on humanity especially on those who benefitted from his philosophy of existence. I am referring to those whose destinies were realized through his gesture.
It is the philosophy in the mind of Asíwájú Yinka Fasuyi that gravitate me towards his lifetime standard and deeds. The philosophy that says “ALTHOUGH I PASSED THROUGH HELL TO BECOME, WHO I AM BY GOD’S GRACE BUT I WILL CREATE PARADISE FOR THE LESS PRIVILEGED FROM MY HELLISH EXPERIENCE.
The mission to save others from hardship so that they can get to their destinations is an exemplary gesture as shown in his social supports he engages in. This aside from his impacts on his place of birth, Ilesha and Ijesha land.
Ijesaland had witnessed many men and women of means and influence and shall continue to witness them. However, among those men of means Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi will surely stand out in the array of those men. As at today if there’s Hall of Fame in Ijesaland, the argument will not be if the portrait of Asíwájú Yinka Fasuyi will be there but the ranking in the placement of the portrait is what will be debated. Let what he had achieved, still achieving and will later achieve be the judge.
This is my inspirational assessment of Yinka Fasuyi on his 70th birthday anniversary I penned down here not a hagiography.
If it is hagiography I must be painting the picture of an angel, I will rather establish that he is an ordinary human being but with extraordinary vision of humanism according to Jean Satre view of ontology
Asiwaju you were not an Angel but angelic in deed. Still, I know with conviction that if we have just twenty of your likes in Ijesaland the journey could have been farther than this in terms of development.
Till I will come from wherever I reside to attend the birthday ceremony and consume 12 wraps of pounded yam and drink fifty liters of emu ogidi I say we shall not be victims of evil and all shall be well with the celebrant, his family, Ijesaland and the people that will grace the occasion.
