A leading aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, has pledged to prioritize agriculture if elected Governor of the state.
This is just as the APC leaders, party ward chairmen and officials reaffirmed their commitment to Oyebamiji's candidature, describing him as "round peg in a round hole" to take Osun to the greater heights.
Acknowledging his decorum and peaceful conduct, the State treasurer of the APC, Hon. Femi Kujembola saluted Oyebamiji for adhering strictly to the party guidelines on electioneering, stating that he has proven once again to be a gentleman by keeping his consultation message clean and decent, without attacking his co-aspirants.
Fielding questions from journalists, Oyebamiji reaffirmed his commitment to redefine and stimulate the socioeconomic fortunes of the state by giving worthy attention to agriculture as catalyst to food sufficiency and revenue generation.
"I have to express my gratitude to our party leaders and members in Atakunmosa West and Atakunmosa East. Indeed the turnout is overwhelming and we can see the endorsement. This is quite encouraging. I want to assure our people in the two councils that when I am elected as Governor, we will prioritize agriculture. This environment is known for agriculture and we will do everything to support that key and critical sector of the economy. I have always been saying it that to revive our economy, there is need to go back to Agriculture. Agriculture, in any form, will have a multiplier effect on our economy and I have promised our people here that we are going to support them. Our government is going to support them in all fronts, particularly in agriculture and Small and Medium Enterprises.
"We are going to create an enabling environment for enterprise to thrive and encourage investors to establish factories and industries that would help to integrate the agricultural farm produce. As a finance expert and economist, I know the importance of agriculture in any economy. I want to assure our people that we are going to play a vital role that would scale up the economy and impact greatly in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of our nation in general and our state in particular", Oyebamiji assured.
Oyebamiji, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, reaffirmed his commitment to peaceful conduct just as he urged members and loyalists of the party to refrain from campaign of calumny and politics of acrimony.
Oyebamiji equally lauded the overall leader of the party and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola for his unflinching support for the party thus far.
Speaking intermittently, Atakunmosa West APC overall leader, Chief Disu Oyedele, Atakunmosa East APC overall leader, Elder James Akinwunmi Oni, APC Chairman, Atakunmosa West, Hon. Mudashiru Bello, APC Chairman Atakunmosa East, Hon. Jamiu Olatunberu and former member, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Babatunde Festus Komolafe, reaffirmed their support for the candidature of Oyebamiji.
They acknowledged the indellible imprints of Oyebamiji in private and public sectors, describing him as the man on whom governor's cap fits.
The APC leaders who could not hide their excitements, said Oyebamiji remains the most competent aspirant and the best candidate for the party to wrestle power from the incumbent government.
