A woman, Iluyemi Bosede, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing her elder sister during a dispute over ₦800 in Akure.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, stating that the incident occurred on September 6 at about 8:00 p.m.
According to him, Bosede confronted her sister, 35-year-old Tewogboye Omowumi, demanding payment for tomatoes and pepper.
He added that the argument turned violent when Bosede allegedly grabbed her sister by the clothes, causing her to fall.
“She was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, described the incident as unfortunate and warned residents against allowing minor disagreements to escalate.
“Disputes, no matter how small, should be resolved through dialogue and not violence. This case shows how avoidable quarrels can end in tragedy,” he said.
Lawal assured the public that the suspect would face justice, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to protecting lives in the state.
