In the closing hours of 2025, the residence of the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, became a centre of warmth, culture and royalty as he played host to five prominent traditional rulers from Ijesaland alongside members of Egbe Yeye Bobasola Adimula.
The atmosphere was relaxed yet dignified, blending royal presence with homely hospitality. Conversations flowed freely as goodwill, reflections on the outgoing year and shared aspirations for Ijesaland filled the room, reinforcing unity among leaders and stakeholders.
In attendance were the Adooko of Idooko-Ijesa, Alayetoro of Ayetoro-Ijesa, Onimogbara of Imogbara-Ijesa, Alaa of Ilaa-Ijesa, and the Awaraja of Iwaraja-Ijesa, all accompanied by their wives, the Oloris, whose presence added further colour and prestige to the gathering. Asiwaju Fasuyi holds the revered traditional title of Baba-Oba across the domains of all five monarchs, highlighting his respected influence within Ijesaland.
A key highlight of the visit was a presentation by Yeye Bolajoko Lufadeju, who addressed Asiwaju Fasuyi, the royal fathers and other guests on the post-Iwude activities of Egbe Babalola (Bobasola) Adimula. She disclosed that following the recently concluded Iwude Ijesa Unity Carnival, the association successfully launched a ₦500,000 University of Ilesa 400-room hostel project. She also reported the distribution of food items and cash tokens to 250 Ijesa women and men, as part of the group’s humanitarian outreach.
In appreciation of the hospitality received, Egbe Bobasola Adimula presented Christmas gifts to Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi and his wife, Yeye Asiwaju, Dr. Bisi Fasuyi, drawing warm reactions from guests at the gathering.
Responding, Asiwaju Fasuyi commended the association for its commitment to community development and social welfare. He further challenged all participating societies (legbelegbes) at the Iwude Ijesa Unity Carnival to move beyond festivities by adopting at least one development project each, stressing that such initiatives should be properly documented in the official brochure of subsequent festivals by the Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee.
The year-end gathering hosted by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, was further enlivened by a festive atmosphere marked by abundant food and drinks, lively dancing and warm social interactions among guests.
Beyond the formal discussions and presentations, the occasion took on a relaxed and celebratory tone as music filled the air, prompting moments of dance and light-hearted enjoyment. Guests freely sampled assorted refreshments, reinforcing the homely hospitality for which the Asiwaju is known.
A particularly striking feature of the event was the cordial exchange of banters among the traditional rulers, a display that underscored their friendliness, mutual respect and unity. Their relaxed interactions drew smiles and admiration from attendees, reflecting a strong bond among the royal fathers and a shared commitment to harmony within Ijesaland.
The blend of festivity, cultural pride and royal camaraderie provided a fitting close to the gathering, leaving guests with lasting impressions of unity, goodwill and optimism as Ijesaland looked ahead to the New Year.
The gathering ended on a note of gratitude, cultural pride and renewed commitment to collective progress, standing as a fitting close to 2025 and a hopeful prelude to the New Year in Ijesaland.
