The Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has inaugurated a six-member Palace Advisory Committee and a 15-member Private Advisory Council to collaborate with the throne in fast-tracking the industrial and economic transformation of Ijesaland.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Owa’s Palace, marked another decisive step in the monarch’s development-driven reign. Speaking shortly after members took their oath of allegiance, Oba Haastrup stressed the need for Ijesaland to move beyond the celebration of its rich historical heritage and deliberately embrace sustainable development anchored on strategic planning, investment attraction and disciplined leadership.
According to the monarch, the future of Ijesaland rests on the collective responsibility of its competent sons and daughters to provide visionary leadership capable of driving long-term economic prosperity.
Oba Haastrup explained that the selection of members of both the committee and council was based on their pedigree, experience and proven commitment to the growth of Ijesaland. He cited their notable contributions to key projects, including the construction of the ultra-modern Owa’s Palace, the establishment of the Ijesa Geriatric Hospital, and sustained interventions in the Leventist Agricultural School through student sponsorships and institutional support.
Commending the patriotic zeal of Ijesa elites at home and in the diaspora, the Owa Obokun noted that their selfless service has continued to reposition Ijesaland among leading Yoruba communities. However, he cautioned against complacency, revealing that another delegation of Chinese technical partners and local large-scale investors—who have already endorsed his agricultural and economic agenda—would soon visit Ijesaland for further assessments.
The monarch expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated advisory bodies would provide the professional guidance required to translate his vision of agriculture-driven industrialisation into tangible outcomes.
Chief Sir Olatunde Aluko responded on behalf of the members of the Palace Advisory Committee.
In his remarks, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, described the appointments as a noble call to serve one’s homeland. He congratulated the Ijesa people on the emergence of Oba Haastrup as paramount ruler, praising the monarch’s uncommon passion, commitment and clear focus on development.
Chief Fasuyi urged Ijesa sons and daughters to actively support the Ijesaland Development Fund, noting that it is structured to accelerate growth, with particular emphasis on the agricultural and investment programmes of Owa Ajimoko III.
Also speaking, former Minister of Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, assured the monarch and the people of Ijesaland of the readiness of members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence. She thanked Oba Haastrup for the confidence reposed in them and pledged loyal, professional and result-oriented service.
