A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Engr. Dideolu Falobi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Olatunji Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police.
In a press statement issued on February 25, 2026, Falobi described the appointment as a bold and strategic move aimed at restoring security and rebuilding public confidence in the nation’s policing system.
According to him, the directive from the State House tasking the new Acting IGP with restoring peace, strengthening national security, and renewing trust in law enforcement reflects decisive leadership at a time when Nigerians are demanding professionalism, firmness, and innovation in the country’s security architecture.
Falobi said the appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to competence and merit. “This is a clear statement that proven operational track records and loyalty to national interest remain defining standards of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that Disu represents a new generation of disciplined and reform-oriented police leadership capable of tackling banditry, terrorism, organised crime, and other threats to national stability.
The former APC aspirant also noted that President Tinubu’s acknowledgement of Disu’s past performance, particularly during his years of service in Lagos, demonstrates a leadership style that rewards excellence and results. He added that the President’s pledge of full support to the Acting IGP signals that security reform remains central to the administration’s priorities.
Falobi further paid tribute to the outgoing Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his service to the nation, stressing the importance of continuity and institutional memory as reforms progress within the Nigeria Police Force.
He called on officers and men of the Force, as well as other security agencies, to support the new Acting IGP in carrying out the mandate to protect lives and property across the country.
Falobi concluded that restoring public trust in national institutions requires courage, discipline, and strong political will, adding that the President’s latest decision demonstrates firm leadership in the interest of Nigeria.
