The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the immediate resignation of the Chief of Staff to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, over his alleged involvement in a reported N13.7 billion payroll fraud controversy.
In a press statement dated February 27, 2026, and signed by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the opposition party described Akinleye as unfit for the sensitive office he occupies, alleging that his conduct has brought embarrassment to the state government.
Allegations and Viral Claims
The APC’s reaction follows claims reportedly made by Saadat Ottun, Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Sally Tibbot Consulting Limited, concerning an alleged payroll fraud within the Adeleke administration. The claims, which have circulated widely on social media, reportedly linked senior government officials to financial irregularities.
The party stated that the alleged development underscores what it described as leadership and managerial deficiencies within the current administration.
Harsh Criticism of Conduct
The statement further criticized Akinleye’s public conduct, referencing a leaked audio recording said to contain an altercation between him and the consulting firm’s CEO. According to the APC, the recording portrayed behavior unbecoming of a public office holder.
The opposition party alleged that governance in the state has suffered due to what it termed the “quality of individuals” managing key sectors of the administration.
Comparison with Former Office Holders
In its remarks, the APC compared the current Chief of Staff with previous occupants of the position, including Elder Peter Babalola, who served under former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Gboyega Oyetola, who held the role during the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The party argued that past office holders demonstrated higher standards of administrative competence and professionalism.
Call for Resignation
Maintaining that the alleged scandal has damaged the image of the state, the APC resolved that Akinleye should step down from office without delay.
“As a matter of honour and responsibility, he should tender his resignation,” the statement concluded.
As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Government and the Chief of Staff had not issued an official response to the APC’s demand.
