‎Alleged Associate of ‘Lekan Emir’, Four Others to Be Arraigned in Osogbo Federal High Court ‎

‎An alleged associate of Olalekan Oyeyemi aka Emir, identified as Adejare Waliyu, aka JayJay, alongside four others, is set to be arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, over alleged criminal offences including abduction and conspiracy.

‎The case, filed as criminal suits FHC/OS/12c/2026 will be heard by Justice Adefunmilola A. Demi-Ajayi, with the Nigeria Police Force prosecuting on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.

‎Allegations and Investigation

‎According to police findings, Adejare and the co-defendants were allegedly linked to violent incidents in Osogbo, including reported killings shortly after the inauguration of Governor Ademola Adeleke. One of the victims is reportedly still missing.

‎The suspects were also accused of leading hoodlums to invade a motor park, leaving several persons injured. Eyewitnesses had claimed the suspects escaped using a convoy linked to the governor to evade arrest, although this allegation has not been proven in court.

‎Following petitions by relatives of one of the victims to the Inspector General of Police, a special anti-kidnapping unit was deployed. The suspects were subsequently arrested and transferred to Abuja, while further investigations continued in Osun State.

‎Police sources added that operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit later intensified efforts, leading to the filing of charges after investigations were concluded.

‎Kidnapping, Conspiracy Charges

‎The prosecution is also expected to argue that the defendants conspired with Oyeyemi in the abduction of individuals.

‎Oyeyemi had earlier been arraigned before the same court on charges of terrorism, murder, and conspiracy under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022. He pleaded not guilty, was remanded, and later granted bail of ₦50 million with conditions. His current whereabouts remain unclear.

‎Court Hearing

‎The matter is scheduled for plea on Wednesday, March 18, where the defendants are expected to formally respond to the charges.

‎Legal observers say the case is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement authorities to address allegations of violent crimes and politically linked disturbances in Osun State.
