A strong display of unity and grassroots mobilisation characterised the All Progressives Congress (APC) Osun East Women Team support rally held on Saturday, March 21, in Ijebu-Jesa, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.
The event, which attracted women from across the senatorial district, began with a vibrant road walk led by Kayode Adereti, a deputy governorship hopeful, alongside Prince Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe. Organisers described the turnout as impressive, reflecting growing support within the grassroots.
The rally was convened to galvanise support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the APC flagbearer in the forthcoming August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
Osun East Senatorial District comprises Atakunmosa East, Atakunmosa West, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ife South, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Obokun and Oriade local government areas, all of which were represented at the gathering.
In her remarks, the APC Women Leader in Osun State, Alhaja Kudiratu Fakokunde, appreciated key leaders of the party at both national and state levels. She extended greetings to Bola Ahmed Tinubu and acknowledged the leadership of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola as the party leader in the state. She also recognised the State Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, alongside other party elders and stakeholders in the Ife/Ijesa zone.
Fakokunde gave special commendation to the Osun East Women Leader, Hon. Olubunmi Abeke Aluko, for her role in the successful organisation of the rally, while praising the women for their colourful turnout, commitment to their homes and dedication at the ward level.
She urged party members to remain united and work collectively toward securing victory for the APC in the upcoming election.
Speaking at the event, Kayode Adereti called on members to intensify mobilisation for voter registration, expressing confidence that victory for the APC in the August 15 poll is certain.
Meanwhile, Prince Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe stole the spotlight as he formally presented himself as a senatorial aspirant, drawing loud ovations and enthusiastic support from the women in attendance.
In his address, he canvassed massive support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), urging party faithful, particularly at the grassroots, to intensify efforts ahead of the forthcoming election. He called for a coordinated door-to-door campaign strategy across wards and communities, stressing the need for members to actively engage voters and promote the party’s agenda.
Ogungbangbe further advised supporters to strengthen their respective units and “compartments” to attract more members and consolidate support for the APC, noting that victory would depend largely on effective grassroots mobilisation and unity within the party.
The rally underscored the growing momentum within the APC in Osun East, with party faithful expressing optimism ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
