The Executive Chairman of Ilesa East Local Government, Lanre Balogun, has commenced the grading of roads across all 11 wards in the council area as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and boost local economic activities.

The weeklong exercise, which began on March 24, is aimed at enhancing road accessibility, easing transportation challenges, and improving the overall socio-economic wellbeing of residents.

Speaking on the initiative, Lanre Balogun stated that the grading project reflects his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and the welfare of the people. He assured that the exercise would be carried out efficiently and equitably across all wards.

Residents and stakeholders have also been urged to cooperate with the project team to ensure smooth execution and timely completion.

The timing of the project is considered strategic, coming ahead of the rainy season, when road conditions typically deteriorate, making movement difficult for residents.

The local government deployed two grader machines for the exercise, while several political office holders have been actively supervising the project. These include the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Kofoworola Omole, Vice Chairman; Hon. Johnson Komolafe, LGA Secretary and Chairman Grading Committee; Hon. Adebayo Olowookere, aka One Dollar and other councillors and aides across various wards.

The initiative marks another step towards improving living standards and strengthening infrastructure at the grassroots level in Ilesa East.
