KAKAKIOODUA Online Media Agency has extended warm birthday felicitations to former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, describing him as a dependable pillar of support and a remarkable political figure.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the media organization congratulated Ayeni on his new age, praising his unique political style and enduring contributions to society.
Ayeni, who served in the 9th National Assembly from 2019 to 2023, represented Atakunmosa East/Atakunmosa West/Ilesa East/Ilesa West Federal Constituency of Osun State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Born on March 31, 1961, in Ilesa, Osun State, Ayeni began his educational journey at Ifeoluwa Primary School before attending Atakunmosa High School, Osu, and later George Burton Memorial College, Ilesa. He furthered his studies in Mechanical Engineering and related disciplines at several institutions, including Government Technical College, Ilaro, and other professional bodies.
His career spans diverse sectors, including sports, engineering, and business, with early experiences at organizations such as Twins Motors, Guinness Football Club, and Five Star Industry. He also made a name for himself in football, earning the nickname “Allan Teddy” due to his exploits on the field.
Ayeni’s political journey dates back to the late 1970s when he joined the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN). Over the years, he remained actively involved in Nigeria’s democratic struggles, including the agitation for the June 12, 1993 mandate.
He later served as Councillor and Majority Leader in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State between 1999 and 2002, before being elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly, where he served two terms and chaired key committees on youth, sports, and social development.
Following his return to Osun State, Ayeni was elected into the House of Representatives, where he served as Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Police Affairs.
Beyond politics, Ayeni is widely recognized for his extensive philanthropic activities. Through various empowerment initiatives, he has supported tens of thousands of beneficiaries in skills acquisition, vocational training, and small-scale business development. His interventions have also included the provision of educational materials, youth empowerment programs, and annual sporting competitions aimed at community development.
His contributions have earned him numerous awards and traditional titles across different communities in Nigeria, reflecting his influence and impact.
