A statement issued by the Director-General of the Omisore political group, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has clarified reports surrounding a court case involving former Osun State governorship aspirant, Iyiola Omisore, and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Famurewa said the attention of the group was drawn to several press releases and public statements concerning the suit marked FHC/OS/CS/261/2025 – Senator Iyiola Omisore v. APC & ANR, noting that many of the circulating reports did not emanate from them.
According to the statement, the suit was initially filed following the disqualification of seven out of eight aspirants during the party’s screening process. The action, he explained, was intended to test the legality of the screening panel’s verdict, which Omisore’s camp believed contravened provisions of Nigeria’s Electoral Act 2022.
Famurewa, however, disclosed that the matter did not proceed further following the intervention of key party leaders, including Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and elder statesman Bisi Akande.
He said the intervention led to Omisore publicly declaring on national television that he would abide by the decision of the party and honour the President.
“Following his declaration of support on national television, the suit was discontinued and no party involved in the matter was served with any court notice to date,” the statement said.
Famurewa also accused some individuals of misrepresenting the situation for political gain.
“It is not unusual to see jobbers and sycophants seize such opportunities to misrepresent the facts, thereby creating unnecessary fear, panic and distrust among party members and the general public,” he stated.
He therefore urged members of the APC and the public to disregard what he described as misleading reports about the case and instead focus on strengthening unity within the party ahead of future elections.
The statement was electronically signed by Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, Director-General of the Omisore political group.
