Police Arrest 18 Suspects Over Attack on Officers in Osun Communities




 


The Osun State Police Command has arrested 18 suspects in connection with the recent attack on police officers in Erin-Osun and Ilobu communities, as investigations into the incident continue.


In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, the police said 14 additional suspects were apprehended through intelligence-led operations, bringing the total number of arrests to 18.


According to the statement, the suspects had gone into hiding following the attack but were later tracked and arrested by operatives acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan.


The Command also confirmed the recovery of weapons linked to the incident, including a single-barrel gun, a live cartridge, and a cutlass.


The suspects arrested include Olaitan Bashiru (53), Tajudeen Aralamo (65), Mustau Salam (45), Jimoh Nurudeen (20), Adeboye Ashifa (63), Ajibola Segun (40), Mustapha Muwaliu (38), Jimoh Quyum (26), Ajani Faruq (20), Musibau Jimoh (35), Ajani Faruq (18), Olaniyan Quadri (40), Fatai Oyawoyin (50), Basiru Olaogun (55), Mutairu Olawoyin (49), Ige Jimoh (60), Olawoyin Samad (18), and Tajudeen Taorid (18).


Police authorities stated that all suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law, emphasizing their commitment to upholding human rights while ensuring justice is served.


The Command added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects and urged residents to remain law-abiding and support security agencies with timely and credible information.
