Tinubu Approves Reconstruction of Ilesa–Ife–Ibadan Road, Owa Haastrup’s Advocacy Credited

‎Residents and stakeholders across Osun State have expressed renewed hope following the approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the reconstruction of the strategic Ilesa–Ife–Ibadan Road, a major highway that has deteriorated over the years.

‎The approval is being welcomed by commuters, traders, farmers, and communities that depend heavily on the road for transportation and economic activities across the South-West region.

‎Observers and community leaders have also linked the renewed federal attention to the road to the sustained advocacy and influence of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Clement Adesuyi Haastrup. The monarch is said to have played a significant role in keeping the issue before relevant authorities through engagements with key national stakeholders.

‎The Ilesa–Ife–Ibadan Road serves as an important economic corridor connecting major communities in the South-West and linking Osun State to Oyo State and other parts of the country.

‎For several years, road users have faced serious challenges due to the deteriorating condition of the highway, with many sections becoming increasingly difficult and unsafe for motorists.

‎With the federal government’s approval now secured, residents along the corridor are hopeful that the reconstruction will restore the road to its former status as one of the region’s most important transportation routes while also boosting economic activities in surrounding communities.

‎Stakeholders say the development highlights the impact of sustained leadership advocacy and collaboration between traditional institutions and government authorities in attracting federal infrastructure projects to the region.
