The University of Ilesa (UNILESA) has taken delivery of 24 housing units from the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, in a move aimed at strengthening the institution’s infrastructure and supporting its academic expansion.
The official handover, which took place on March 26, 2026, is being described as a significant milestone in the university’s development drive.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, expressed appreciation to the ministry for the intervention, assuring that the housing facilities would be effectively utilised to advance the institution’s goals.
Representing the Honourable Minister, Pemi Temitope noted that the provision of the housing units aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and sustainable development in tertiary institutions.
The handover ceremony was attended by members of the university management, as well as officials from the ministry in Abuja and representatives from the Osun State Government.
The new housing units are expected to improve staff welfare and create a more conducive environment for teaching, research, and learning within the university community.
