Panic broke out on Monday afternoon in the Aguda area of Ogba in Lagos after a school building accommodating nursery and secondary school students suddenly collapsed.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred around noon while students and staff were still inside the building.
One witness explained that the structure began showing warning signs shortly before it gave way. According to the eyewitness, stones started falling from parts of the building while visible cracks appeared on the walls inside the classrooms, creating fear among those in the premises.
The situation reportedly triggered panic as students and staff quickly rushed out of the building to safety.
The witness added that moments after the occupants evacuated the premises, the building collapsed completely.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, as all students and staff had escaped before the structure came down.
The incident caused tension in the neighbourhood as residents and passersby gathered around the scene following the collapse.
Authorities were yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
