The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday inaugurated over 800 members of its campaign council as preparations intensify for the 2026 governorship election.
At the inauguration ceremony held at the Ileri-Oluwa Campaign Office in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, the party’s Campaign Director-General, Hon. Oluwole Oke, expressed confidence in the party’s chances, declaring that its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would defeat the incumbent governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, before 10:00 p.m. on election day.
Oke stated that the council is fully committed to unseating the current administration, describing the mission as “non-negotiable” and asserting that the governor’s tenure is nearing its end. He added that the party has already commenced grassroots mobilization and statewide campaign efforts following the earlier announcement of the council’s composition.
The APC had previously unveiled key leadership of the campaign structure, with Oke serving as Director-General. Other notable appointments include Prince Adebayo Adeleke as Director-General for Osun Central Senatorial District, Prince Dotun Babayemi for Osun West, and Prince Thomas Ogungbangbe for Osun East.
The campaign council features several committees tasked with coordinating various aspects of the electioneering process. These include the Peace and Resolution Committee led by Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, the Contact and Mobilization Committee headed by Hon. Rasak Adeosun, and the Media and Publicity Committee chaired by Engr. Remi Omowaiye. Others are Women Mobilization, Youth and Civil Society, Research and Strategy, Legal, Medical, Diaspora, and Entertainment Committees, among others.
Addressing members, Oke criticized the administration of Governor Adeleke, alleging mismanagement of state resources and a decline in key sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture. He said the APC candidate is prepared to “rescue Osun” and restore effective governance.
He further urged members of the campaign council to focus on issue-based campaigning, assuring that the party would present programs aimed at tackling poverty, improving welfare, creating jobs, and rebuilding public institutions.
Reaffirming his optimism, Oke maintained that the APC is well-positioned for victory in the forthcoming election, emphasizing the party’s determination to reclaim leadership in the state.
