Ilesa, Osun State – April 28, 2026
There was a wave of excitement and renewed political energy in Ilesa East on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as Titilope Fadahunsi-Ajayi formally declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Osun State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration was made at a well-attended APC Ilesa East Local Government meeting, which turned celebratory as party faithful received her announcement with drumming, singing, and enthusiastic cheers, reflecting widespread grassroots support for her aspiration.
Titilope Fadahunsi-Ajayi’s entry into the race is already generating significant interest, not only because of her political experience and administrative background, but also due to her strong family legacy in public service. She is the granddaughter of the highly revered Chief Sir Joseph Odeleye Fadahunsi, who served as Governor of the Western Region between 1963 and 1966, and the daughter of Chief Sir J. Oladipo Fadahunsi, a respected political figure who withdrew from active politics due to age.
Speaking at the gathering, Fadahunsi-Ajayi expressed her readiness to serve the people of Ilesa East with dedication, accountability, and a clear vision for development. She emphasized her deep-rooted connection to the constituency and her longstanding involvement in grassroots politics.
Her supporters describe her as a seasoned and articulate leader with a proven track record, having previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State on Diaspora Affairs between 2020 and 2022. During her tenure, she was credited with strengthening engagement between Osun indigenes in the diaspora and the state government, as well as initiating impactful programs, including humanitarian interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, she has served as a member of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), where she contributed to key administrative and policy decisions.
Observers note that her declaration signals a strategic blend of legacy, experience, and grassroots appeal, positioning her as a strong contender ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As political activities gradually intensify across Osun State, all eyes will be on Ilesa East, where Titilope Fadahunsi-Ajayi’s candidacy is expected to shape the dynamics of the race in the months ahead.
