Relief for Grassroots: Lanre Balogun Shares ₦75m Cash Grants with 1,500 Constituents (PHOTOS)

The Executive Chairman of Ilesa East Local Government Area, Hon. Olanrewaju Balogun, on Friday flagged off the disbursement of cash grants to about 1,500 residents as part of a large-scale poverty alleviation initiative in Osun State.

The financial support of ₦50,000 per beneficiary, was distributed to a wide cross-section of the community, including artisans, traders, market women, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), elderly citizens, persons living with disabilities, and selected party members.

The empowerment programme, tagged the “AMBO Grant,” is aligned with broader efforts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to promote economic inclusion and improve livelihoods at the grassroots level across the state.

Speaking at the event, Balogun described the initiative as a landmark intervention and the first of its kind in the history of Ilesa East Local Government. He noted that the programme was designed to complement the economic agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope initiative, while also leveraging the recently granted autonomy to local governments.

He urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the funds to grow their businesses rather than spend them on non-essential activities. The chairman also assured that similar empowerment programmes would be sustained, with another round expected within the next six months.

Balogun further acknowledged the contributions of key political leaders in the state, including support for local government reforms and service delivery improvements.

Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Ilesa East LGA, Hon. Akinola Fowowe, commended residents for their continued loyalty to the party and encouraged them to promote its developmental strides.

The event attracted notable dignitaries, including former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, alongside party leaders and community stakeholders.

Many beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful amid current economic challenges. They also pledged continued support for the APC and its governorship aspiration under Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

The atmosphere at the venue was lively, marked by excitement, gratitude, and renewed hope as beneficiaries received their grants, signaling a significant boost to small-scale enterprises and local economic growth.
