Osun APC Fires Back at Reps Member Salam Over Criticism of Tinubu, AMBO, Oke ‎

‎The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized a member of the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam, over his recent remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and the Director-General of its campaign council, Wole Oke.

‎In a statement issued on Thursday, the party described Salam’s comments as “uncharitable, ill-informed and misleading,” further labeling the federal lawmaker as a “frustrated politician.”

‎Salam, who represents the Ede North/Ede South, Egbedore, Ejigbo Federal Constituency, had appeared on Channels Television on Wednesday, where he reportedly made critical remarks about President Tinubu and other APC leaders in Osun State.

‎Reacting, the APC said it was disappointed by Salam’s description of Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, as a “weakling,” insisting that its candidate possesses the capacity and competence to win the forthcoming August 15, 2026 governorship election.

‎The party also dismissed Salam’s claims as baseless, arguing that Oyebamiji has demonstrated strong credentials in both public and private service, unlike what it described as the “underwhelming performance” of the opposition.

‎According to the statement, Salam’s outburst may be linked to fears within opposition ranks over the growing strength of the APC campaign, particularly following the appointment of Wole Oke as Director-General of the party’s governorship campaign committee.

‎The APC further alleged that internal anxieties within opposition circles over the conduct of the forthcoming election have fueled recent controversies, including reactions to administrative decisions by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

‎On national issues, the party faulted Salam for comparing President Tinubu with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing such comparisons as “misplaced and untenable.”

‎Reaffirming its confidence ahead of the election, the APC maintained that no amount of criticism from opposition figures would alter what it described as the “imminent victory” of its candidate at the polls.

‎The statement was signed by Kola Olabisi, the party’s Director of Media and Information in Osun State.
