The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, on Friday unveiled his campaign manifesto titled "My Pact With Osun People".
Oyebamiji said his administration will be guided by transparency, accountability and people-oriented governance saying "the incoming government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under my leadership is prepared, equipped, and ready to return Osun State to the path of growth, prosperity, and abundance."
This is even as critical sectors including poverty alleviation, workers’ welfare, power, job creation, security, quality education, healthcare delivery, agricultural development among others topped his priorities.
Delivering his speech at the event which was attended by the leaderships of different segments of the population in both private and public sectors including security heads, traditional rulers, artisans, members of the civil society organizations, students, retirees, members of the press among others, said his focus is to build a state that every citizen will be proud of.
According to him, the manifesto is anchored on a clear and practical framework represented by the acronym "P-R-O-S-P-E-R" under Osun Prosperity Agenda targeting social intervention programmes to reduce poverty and support vulnerable citizens and as well prioritise workers’ welfare by ensuring prompt payment of salaries, improve working conditions and restore dignity in public service.
He said: "we will rebuild your confidence in government and ensure that every policy and programme is designed to uplift the lives of our people and secure a brighter future for generations to come.
Consequently, my pact with the people of Osun is anchored on seven pillars of development. For us, these pillars shall form a new pathway to prosperity built on trust and shared progress. On these pillars, we intend to build a more prosperous, inclusive and resilient state - a state where opportunities are accessible, governance is transparent, communities are secured and every citizen has the support required to succeed.
"we will drive job creation through public works programmes, enterprise support and strategic investments. We will stimulate local industries, support entrepreneurship and attract investment to create sustainable employment."
Oyebamiji maintained that his administration will stimulate the economy of the state by attracting massive investment noting that "under our government, key economic assets such as the Dagbolu Dry port and the Ido-Osun Aviation city will be prioritised and our prosperity will be experienced in the daily lives of our people."
"To us, government must remain open, responsive and accountable at all times. Consequently, under my leadership, we shall run a responsive, accountable and transparent government. Starting from day one of our administration, we shall deliver a governance that is people-centred, implement citizen-friendly budget, ensure regular reporting and promote open procurement systems.
"In the new era, we will strengthen financial management and ensure that public resources are used for the benefit of all. While in office, we shall institutionalise citizen engagement and feedback systems. We will strengthen the Osun Investment Promotion Agency to drive real investment. Industrial parks with modern infrastructure will be developed to support enterprise growth. The Osun Free Trade Zone will be revitalised into a thriving industrial and export hub capable of attracting significant investment. We will improve ease-of-doing- business and reposition Osun among the top performing states in Nigeria. In the new Osun, opportunities will be within the reach of everyone.
"We shall work hard to create Opportunities for Economic Growth, create Support Systems for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises through microcredit, grants and development services. Youth and Women Empowerment will be central to our governance. We will introduce skills acquisition programmes, promote entrepreneurship support initiatives, create access to funding, and democratise leadership opportunities for our youth and women.
Our goal is to harness their creativity, energy, and innovation to drive development and prosperity across Osun State", Oyebamiji assured.
In his quest to strengthen the security apparatus in the state when elected Governor, the APC governorship candidate pledged that technology-driven security solutions will be employed to support community-based initiatives in order to ensure peace across cities, towns and villages adding that his administration will expand Social Welfare Services to support the elderly, vulnerable populations, and those in need as part of efforts to ensuring that no citizen of Osun is left behind.
Oyebamiji averred that the agricultural potential will be properly harnessed for the state to feed herself and beyond saying "consequently, we shall implement productive agriculture programmes to majorly drive our economic growth by establishing agro-industrial clusters and modern farm settlements that will be attractive to Osun youths through public-private partnership".
According to him, under our government, farmers will receive government modern farming techniques, training and sustainable finance in other to attract investment in agro-processing, storage and export handling, and in this sector, institutional challenges around land acquisition and preparation shall be expressly removed through a deliberate government policy.
Oyebamiji added: "as you know, a healthy and educated population is the foundation of prosperity. Therefore, we will invest in modern learning infrastructure and strengthen technical and vocational training. We will recruit, train, and deploy adequate teachers to our schools. Under our government, apprenticeship and entrepreneurship programmes will be expanded. We will ensure that our children receive education that prepares them for global opportunities.
"At the same time, we will strengthen healthcare delivery by employing more medical personnel, upgrade existing primary health centres and build new ones where required. We shall adequately equip our secondary health facilities, and ensure affordable and accessible healthcare services for all citizens, regardless of location or social status.
"Under our Prosperity Agenda, we will pursue Infrastructure Development with renewed vigour. All the entry points into our dear state shall be modernised. We will improve road networks, power supply and public water systems. Our internal roads shall receive our prompt attention. Each local government area will benefit from targeted infrastructure development. Broadband access will be expanded across the state while land administration will be modernised and urban planning system strengthened through appropriate technologies.
On Tourism and Culture, our assets such as the Erin Ijesa Waterfalls, the Amnesty Agreement site for the Kiriji War, the Owala Dam, among others shall be developed to make them world-renowned tourism attractions. We shall implement Osun Culture/Tourism week to showcase our cultural reach and diversity. Notable cultural events such as the Odun Olojo, Osun Osogbo and others shall be supported and repackaged to compete with any other festival in the world. We will turn our natural resources into prosperity for all", Oyebamiji pledged.
He used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to improved welfare packages for civil servants saying 'your salaries, pensions and entitlements will be paid promptly and consistently. I am committed to creating a work environment that is fair, supportive and motivating. To you, I will keep my promise.'
"This manifesto represents our clear direction and sincere commitment to you. It is a pledge that I shall lead with integrity, govern with purpose and deliver meaningful development across all sectors. Together with you, I promise to rebuild your confidence in government, strengthen our institutions and reposition Osun State for lasting prosperity. I therefore invite you to join this renewal and progress. Let us work together to build a state of opportunity, security and shared prosperity", Oyebamiji affirmed.
In their separate remarks, the Osun APC governorship campaign Director General, Hon. Oluwole Oke, Osun APC State Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, former governorship aspirant, Prince Dotun Babayemi, Osun ALGON Chairman Hon Samuel Idowu Abiodun among others expressed confidence in Oyebamiji's charismatic quality, capacity, competence and administrative acumen and wherewithals to take Osun to the next level of sustainable socioeconomic transformation, growth and development.
The event had in attendance, former Osun First Lady and wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola, Oyebamiji's wife, Dr. Sekinah Bola-Oyebamiji, APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Engr. Benjamin Kayode Adereti and his wife, Princess Adebukola Adereti, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Protocol, Ambassador Issah Niniola, APC Senatorial Campaign Directors General: Prince Adebayo Adeleke (Osun Central), Prince Dotun Babayemi (Osun-West) and Dr. Ogungbangbe (Osun-East).
Others are: former governorship aspirants: Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, former State and National Assemblies lawmakers, members of Osun APC State Executive Council, religious leaders, traditional rulers among others.
