AMBO Calls for Calm, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Post-Election Attacks on APC Members

‎The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has appealed to residents, party members and his supporters to remain calm and peaceful following the outcome of the election.

‎Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, also said he respects the position of the electoral umpire while expressing support for the APC’s ongoing review of the election outcome.

‎In a message dated August 17, 2026, the APC candidate thanked party leaders, members, supporters, volunteers and voters across the state for their commitment, sacrifices and support throughout the electioneering period.

‎He said although the outcome was not what his campaign had hoped for, he remained grateful to those who believed in the alternative vision and prosperity agenda presented to the people of Osun.

‎“Although, we had hoped for a different outcome in the election, in the meantime, we respect the position of the electoral umpire and I totally support the decision of our party in its ongoing review of the outcome of the election,” Oyebamiji said.

‎He maintained that while the campaign and election had ended, the values and causes promoted by his campaign remained relevant to the development of Osun State.

‎According to him, the commitment to effective, inclusive and rapid development of the state should continue beyond the election.

‎Oyebamiji therefore urged his supporters to remain engaged, continue to organise and work for the collective good of Osun State.

‎However, the former commissioner raised concerns over what he described as a growing trend of hostility and violence against APC members and supporters in the aftermath of the election.

‎He alleged that violent attacks witnessed during the build-up to the election had “taken another dimension in the last 24 hours.”

‎Oyebamiji consequently called on the Osun State Government, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to urgently intervene and prevent further violence.

‎“I urge all of you to remain calm and peaceful as you go about your daily activities in the post-election period,” he said.

‎“At the same time, I wish to alert the State Government and security agents to the growing trend of hostility and violence against our members and supporters.”

‎He further urged security agencies to arrest what he described as the “ugly trend” without delay and ensure the safety of residents irrespective of their political affiliations.

‎Oyebamiji concluded by expressing appreciation to every voter, supporter, party member and leader who contributed to his campaign, saying he remained proud of the campaign and grateful for the confidence reposed in him.

‎He signed the statement as Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, FCIB, MBA, dated August 17, 2026.
